Question by Luna: Does anyone know any Celtic symbols for wisdom/knowledge?
I am wondering if there are other Celtic symbols for wisdom or knowledge other than the salmon?
I am doing some studying abroad in Ireland and I would like to get a tattoo of a Celtic knowledge symbol before I leave, to remember my time and experience.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The salmon of knowledge acquired it’s knowledge by eating hazelnuts. It was a long established custom across Britain to throw hazelnuts into the water when you were lacking poetic inspiration, and then the bubbles rising from the hazelnuts would give you ideas.
I’m not sure if they would make a good tattoo though. How about a cauldron? That’s quite often seen as a symbol of knowledge too since it’s the way that the salmon was cooked into it’s potion form for Taliesin/Fionn to accidently eat.

you could try some of the OGAM runes.
COLL pronounced cull represents the Hazel andKnowlege Creativity and Inspiration.
MUIN pronouncek MUHN represents the grapevine and is a rune FAH-gus represents the Beech and is a rune of learning and guidance
if you want a tat you probably would want to incorperate the runes into
something larger or more ornate. as the runes are simply intersecting lines.

ogham staves… <<
Ask the Irish what they would use.
Or, have a look at Ogham, a form of writing using straight lines across another line, and which was largely used on stones. It is now related to the tree alphabet as popularised by Robert Graves (author) and you can pick one or more of the tree symbols for their meaning, time of year or can run a few together to form a name or word.
This may have the advantage of being ‘secret’ to anyone not in the know.
Or, use any of the curvilinear symbols as from the Book of Kells,
